Machine Learning Researcher, PhD

whoami

Hi! I am a machine learning reasearcher deeply interested in AI/ML theory, ML for healthcare, optimization techniques, mathematical logic, and programming languages.

I hold a Ph.D. in Machine Learning, as well as an M.Sc. and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I earned my Ph.D. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, working in the group of Dr. George Paliouras and Prof. Dr. Alexander Artikis in the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSRD). My doctoral research was focused on the development of semi-supervised multi-relational learning methods for event recognition applications. I joined NCSRD in 2014, while working on my master thesis, where I actively participated in several international research projects, and contributed significantly to the development of structure learning methods for Markov Logic Networks.

My current research interests center on developing multi-modal AI models that are capable of reasoning and generalizing into out-of-distribution inputs. I firmly believe that progress in these areas is crucial, particularly for mission-critical domains such as medical and biomedical applications.
